Apostle/Bishop Stephen E. Parson, Sr., Ph.D. is a native of Baltimore, MD. He is the third child born to the late Apostle James A. Parson, Sr. and Apostle Shirley V. Parson. He is married to Apostle Diane V. Parson, and together they have three sons: Daniel, Jermaine and Stephen Jr.; and four granddaughters: Dania, Kamryn, Zoey and Leyric; one adopted granddaughter, Danielle; and many spiritual sons and daughters.
Apostle Parson was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He has attained life/work experience and acumen in disparate disciplines coupled with post-secondary education; which has afforded him knowledge and skills equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts degree. He has received numerous certifications, awards and meritorious appointments; and has over 35 years of professional experience in various disciplines within the field of Information Technology (Regional Support Engineer, Regional Systems Support Engineer, Technical Consultant, Senior Technical Analyst, Sales Engineer, Supervisor of Technical Services, Customer Support Manager, Operations Program Manager, Operations Product Manager, Product Manager, Senior Business Analyst) and non-profit domain (Business Consultant).
Apostle Parson pursued religious studies in Applied Theology from C. H. Mason System of Bible Colleges, Memphis, Tennessee (Baltimore Campus), and Logos Christian College, Jacksonville, Florida (Baltimore Campus). Apostle Parson was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from Eastern Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, Virginia. He was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Christian Counseling from Gobal Bible University without Walls.
Apostle Parson was saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age. Since early childhood, he followed in the footsteps of his father. It was during these formative years that God was preparing “Stephen” for His purpose; just as the prophet Samuel was called at an early age and studied under the Lord’s servant (Eli) as a priest’s apprentice! “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher” [Luke 6:40]
Apostle Parson is a dedicated and devout worker for the Lord. He was a faithful member of the Spirit of Truth church family (formerly Spirit of Truth C.O.G.I.C.) from 1965 to 2008. He was ordained an Elder on April 26, 2001; consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop on August 7, 2003; and affirmed to the holy office of Apostle in The Church of Jesus Christ on August 10, 2006. He served faithfully from 1998 to 2008 under the progressive leadership of the late Apostle James A. Parson, Sr. (Presiding Bishop, Chief Apostle, and Founder of the Charismatic Churches of God in Christ International), where he held the esteemed offices of Apostolic Legate, Executive Board Member, Chief Financial Officer, Chairman of the Board of Bishops, Chairman of the Credential Holders Council, and National Teacher.
Apostle Parson is anointed with the gifts of apostle, teaching, miracles, helps, healing and government as defined in 1 Corinthians 12:28. He considers himself to be a servant of the Lord, and has the zeal to be used in the building of the Master’s kingdom wherever opportunity presents itself. On May 1, 2004, Apostle Parson (along with his devoted wife) accepted God’s call to “go into the vineyard and work!” Through the direction of the Holy Spirit, they began Perfected in the Word Ministry … A ministry purposed to illuminate God’s Word, through the ascension gift of teaching ... “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” [Ephesians 4:12]. “Whosoever keeps His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him” [1 John 2:5].
On April 12, 2008, Apostle Parson was designated (through the will of God) Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle of Perfected in the Word Ministry, and sealed through the covenant ministries God has placed under his care. God spoke to him the words as recorded in St. John 15:16: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit…” Through the oversight of The Covenant Churches of Perfected in the Word Ministry, an adopted spiritual covering and anointing from Christ has been established, developed and propagated under one covenant body through the lives of His appointed leaders. God has added divers ministries (both foreign and domestic) to this covenant fellowship; and has called Apostle Parson to be the “father of many churches” – as spoken through the prophetic voice of Apostle Wanda Wilkerson of the Apostolic/Prophetic World Wide Network on June 1, 2008 (signifying “the day of Pentecost” in affirmation of his calling to the office of Chief Apostle). “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen” [Romans 11:36].
